I’ve stumbled on the SAA1099P chip which is a great piece of hardware and in my view, a perfect candidate for Continuum’s audio. Also found Bobcatmodder’s brilliant SAATunes which made it a breaze to have an actual working, sound producing chip.

Right now I’m trying to reduce the footprint of the whole thing so I am aiming for some smaller microcontroller to run this whole thing on. And maybe also get rid of the oscillator since the MC can provide a clock on its own.

If things go well, I “think” I may be able to create a bluetooth “sound card” that would ideally allow connections from Continuum 93 either from the PC emulator or some other future hardware implementations.
